1. Data Collection and Storage

MoneyNest is designed as a local-first application. Your financial data, including expenses, income, accounts, budgets, and categories, is stored locally on your device. We do not collect or store this data on our servers.

2. Permissions and Usage

To provide certain features, the app requires the following permissions:

Camera (android.permission.CAMERA) Used exclusively for scanning receipts. When you use the receipt scanner, the app accesses your camera to capture an image of the receipt for on-device OCR (Optical Character Recognition) processing. Images are not uploaded to our servers.

SMS (Optional) If you explicitly enable SMS transaction detection, the app reads incoming SMS messages from your bank to automatically log expenses. This data stays on your device.

Internet Used for user-initiated Google Drive backups, app review links, and retrieving currency exchange rates if applicable.

Biometrics Used only for local app locking to protect your data from unauthorized access on your device.

3. Data Backups

If you choose to use the Google Drive backup feature, your data is encrypted and uploaded to your personal Google Drive account. We do not have access to your Google Drive or the backup files.
